I had my second steroid shot today in my knee. It's my second in two years. Maybe at 51 I need to do something besides running, something that is not quite so hard on the body.
My problem? I love that runners high! Plus, as a person that suffers from Early Onset Alzheimers Disease vigorous exercise is one of the most beneficial exercizes you can do. Now, yes there are plenty of different types of exercise, that's just the one that happens to makes me feel good. My trainer wants me to try swimming...other than the occasional dip in a pool I haven't actually done alot of swimming in the last decade. So this could be interesting. I let you know how it goes, assuming I survive.
This is one of the final blocks of the quilt I have been working on for a very long time. It is a quilt for my pal Carllann.
I have a few more blocks to assemble, then make the quilt sandwich and it will be done. I can honestly say I have never put more work into a quilt before;
it's my own fault, I got carried away with the embroidery part. I haven't embroidered anything in years. It is time consuming, can be frustrating, but is totally worth it. I think it gives the quilt a very interesting look. Hopefully my friend will feel the love that I put into it!
I'll post a picture this weekend~!
It's on...I am officially being paid to blog! As exciting as that sounds I would starve to death on what I am making so don't get too excited for me. Writing has always come pretty easy to me and it is something I enjoy. My husband has done quite a bit of sports writing, and he is a radio broadcaster as well. My son. who is now in college is a fiction writer, he started writing stories in elementary school and hopes to publish some day, my daughter published an awesome hardback book of tattoos, and my brother is a musician/songwriter. What I'm saying is... it's is a family affair, it must be in our DNA!
My latest addition, now I just have to learn how to use it! My Droid was failing badly so I got the Galaxy S III. Love it so far, but will take awhile to figure out how to use it. Lots of new toys that I will use once and then probably delete. Some apps are important, like the navigator or the camera, even the extra bright flashlight...I also like the post it notes app, very handy. Seriously though, most importantly it helps me remember things and keep in touch with the people I care about, which is pretty important!
Nothing improves your perspective like a little laughter. Last night we went to Alberta Bair in Billings to see Lisa Lampanelli. She was hysterical! Wildly inappropriate, but that's her style. She says out loud all of those things everyone else is thinking. Loved it! If you ever get the chance to catch her show, don't miss it!
I've been kinda lazy since moving to Billings. We walk alot, but I haven't done any really vigorous excercise like I should be. But I am officially back at it....and I'm really sore. Every time I take a break from excercising I am reminded why it's better to JUST Do IT! Taking a few months off....not a good idea, now I will have to go through all the pain and suffering of starting almost from scratch. Legs hurt...arms hurt...guessing my ass will hurt tomorrow as well. It's a good thing!
Road trip to Little Big Horn!
Me and the hubby decided to take a road trip to Little Big Horn this past weekend. Wow what an amazing place! The history there is palpable, and very moving. If you ever get the chance to check out the grounds, cemetery and battlefield, do so!
The final hill where General Custer died.
As most of my friends know, I love kniting, sewing and especially quilting. These days I seem to have more free time so I am catching up on my sewing and quilting and in the process managed to cut off the top of my index finger with my rotary cutter while quilting... ouch...and Fu#k!
Isn't this awesomely ridiculous? LOL, and I am guessing it's going to heal very slowly...almost as slowly as my one handed typing -- it's taken me 10 minutes to type this post. Here's the picture. Good thing it's on my left hand right? <sigh> #fail
